GENERAL FAQ
A: Yes. Everyone entering the gym will need to have a waiver, including people who are only belaying or spectating.
All minors must have a waiver completed by their parent or legal guardian.
A: All participants 12yrs and older can get belay certified to belay for other participants who are also 12yrs of age or older.
Participants under the age of 12 must be belayed by someone who is 18yrs or older.
Participants wanting to belay must be certified by a Quarry staff member before belaying.
A: If you are only belaying, we will only charge you if you need to rent a harness.
A: We do not. You will need to bring someone with you to belay or plan on bouldering.
We will teach and certify your friend to belay, no prior experience is necessary.
A: We do not. When our gym was built, auto belay technology did not exist yet, so the gym was not designed to accommodate auto belay systems.
A: No, rentals are not included in the price of admission. Here’s our rental pricing breakdown:
- Harness rental $5/person.
- Shoe rental $6/person.
- Harness & Shoe Combo rental $8/person.
A: No. We recommend climbing shoes for the best experience, but closed toe shoes are acceptable.
Sandals and Barefoot climbing are not permitted.
A: We offer Top rope, Lead, Bouldering, and 6 crack climbs.
Our route setters put up new climbs on a weekly basis to ensure that climbing stays fun and fresh for everyone.
A: When you pay for admission you are purchasing an all day pass. You are welcome to leave and come back during the same day; before you leave, let our desk staff know that you will be returning.
A: No. We only require reservations for groups of 10 or more people. See the Group Reservation section of our FAQ for more info on groups.
A: Quarry Dress Code:
- Shirts are required to be worn at all times (a modest sports bra is okay).
- We hope this is a given, but some form of bottoms: shorts, pants, leggings, are required.
- Closed toe shoes must be worn on the wall, climbing barefoot or in sandals is not permitted.
- If you have long hair, we strongly recommend putting it up for safety and convenience.
We recommend wearing comfortable, flexible clothing for the best experience.
A: To get Lead certified, you can sign up to take our Learn to Lead class or if you know how to lead climb and belay you can test out of the class.
To test out of our Learn to Lead class, you must:
- Pass a verbal exam on Lead safety and terminology.
- Demonstrate proper belaying technique.
- Redpoint a 5.10a without any mistakes.
- Pay a $5 lead test fee.
- Bring your own rope and a climbing partner who is already Lead Certified or planning to certify with you.
Lead certification will be awarded at the discretion of our staff.
To test out of our lead class you must certify with a Quarry Staff member, visit our front desk for more info.
MEMBERSHIP FAQ
A: No, rentals are not included with a membership.
Ideally, if you are planning to climb frequently, you will want to purchase your own harness, shoes, etc. that fit you specifically.
Mountainworks, the climbing shop next door to us, often sell discounted packages on equipment to Quarry Members.
Please refer to them for current offerings (801) 371-0223.
A: Family Memberships consist of spouses and children under 18.
Roommates, friends, cousins, adult siblings/children are not eligible for a family membership.
A: Yes, but only if they meet the conditions for a Family Membership.
We will have you complete a Family Add Form in the gym and charge any relevant dues.
A: There are no cancellation fees. If you have a past due balance, you will need to pay that first.
Be sure to submit a cancellation form in the gym or online before the deadline.
A: To freeze your membership, you will need to submit a freeze form in the gym or online before the deadline.
Freeze fees are $5/month for a Student or Individual membership and $10/month for a Family membership.
Memberships may only be frozen once per calendar year, but for as long as you want consecutively (.e.g frozen for March, April, May).
GROUP RESERVATIONS FAQ
A: To make a reservation, please call our Front Desk Staff at (801) 418-0266.
We require the following information to make a reservation:
- The time your group will arrive.
- Number of people in the group (rough estimate).
- Payment information for a deposit.
- Valid email address for contact and receipt purposes.
Please note: reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance, 48 hours for groups of 20 or more.
Our evenings tend to fill up quickly. For best results, we recommend making reservations a week or two prior to the event.

When you make a group reservation, we will email you a specific waiver link for your group. If you send that exact link to all participants, it will show you who in your group has completed a waiver. Waivers completed via a different method will not be shown in your email.

A: To qualify for our group rates, you must make a reservation.
Reservations help us ensure that we are properly staffed to accommodate your group, and give your group priority over other guests.
A: Often we have to schedule additional staff to help accommodate groups. Deposits help us to plan accordingly, and give your group priority over other customers coming into the gym.
Typically, we charge a $50 deposit for groups of 10–20 people and a $100 deposit for groups of 20+ people.
Your deposit will be credited back towards your purchase when your group arrives.
A: No. In fairness to our members, we like to keep the gym accessible to them at all times when we are open.
